George is best known as editor of the nationally-distributed THE YELLOW SHEET: The Practical Newsletter of Agency Management. His newsletter and well-attended conferences had a large following and significantly influenced ad agencies during the 1980s and 1990s. He started in advertising in1956 as a copywriter and was creative director of Oakleigh French Advertising in the early 1960s. He opened George Johnson Advertising in 1964. Johnson also conducted agency management workshops and advertising seminars throughout his career. He is founder and former president of both the Advertising Writers Club of St. Louis and the Intermarket Association of Advertising Agencies. George is also former president of the St. Louis Society of Communicating Arts, and the author of several books.
