American Bottom Gazette

1841-1844

The first newspaper established in the City of East St. Louis, then known as “Illinois Town,” was the American Bottom Gazette. There was no paper after its demise until 1865.

Sumrix and Jarrott, publishers. Newspaper’s offices were destroyed by a flood.
