In 2004, Jessica founded and served as the president of the nonprofit Gateway Media Literacy Partners, whose mission is to promote literacy and empower citizens to think critically about media coverage. The organization also supports the development of literacy skills in children whose educational needs are often underserved or overlooked. As a board member of the Gateway Journalism Review, Jessica has organized that group’s primary fundraiser, the annual First Amendment Celebration, which draws leading media figures, from across the country, continuing her support of and devotion to media literacy.
