Vehme

1869-1871.

Joseph Keppler, the famous artist of the New York Puck, who was worth several hundred thousand dollars when he died, was the same Joe Keppler, half-starved Bohemian, who tried to publish a humorous paper in St. Louis at any time between 1869-1876. With Heinrich Binder, late in the summer of 1869, he issued a German humorous weekly, Die Vehme. After a checkered career of less than two years its publication was abandoned.
