This German paper was first issued in March, 1880, by Gustavus Schwendler, publisher. Hon. B.E. Hoffman was employed as editor. After four months’ trial Mr. Schwendler was convinced that a German newspaper in Edwardsville would not pay, and the publication ceased. It was Democratic in tone.
