When he joined the news staff at KSDK in the mid-1980s, John Pertzborn already had some seasoning at smaller market stations. His position as a reporter and anchor for 13 years at Channel 5 led to an offer from KTVI, where he settled into the anchor chair and stayed until his retirement 28 years later. His easy going on-camera demeanor endeared him to the large audience tuned in to the station on weekday mornings, so much so that they sent in bow ties when he started wearing them every Tuesday, a habit he kept up until retirement in 2016.
