Russ Carter’s St. Louis Hop

Russ Carter, host of the fabulously successful St Louis Hop via station KSD-TV, which is in its 10th year, says, “I think the kids of today are fabulous. They’re even greater than those of my age because they’re so much farther advanced.”

Carter’s show, which features dancing to current hit records along with appearances by top recording personalities, has become so popular that requests to be part of the studio crowd have to be made at least a year in advance.

What is the secret of Russ’ tremendous success? It’s easy.

“We try our best to see that the kids have a good time,” explains Carter. “We figure if they’re having fun, it will show, and other people will enjoy watching it.”

A native of St. Louis, Russ is a graduate of Cleveland High School and attended the Missouri University for three years. While at the university, Russ sang with the Tiger Glee Club and with the University Singers, then he joined the Ted Weems band as a vocalist.

A real nice guy, this may be one of the reasons for Russ’ tremendous popularity.
