“Where there’s life, there’s Bud!” and Pick-a-Pair were just two iconic campaigns that Budweiser advertising manager Raymond E. Krings was responsible for during his long career at Anheuser-Busch.

Thanks to a generous donation from Ray’s grandson Joe Hodes and the Krings’ family of Ray Krings’ assorted papers and photographs, the St. Louis Media History Foundation is able to preserve these important documents, gain insights and help share the background to these famous collaborations between Anheuser-Busch and their long-time advertising agency D’Arcy Advertising. The papers, notes, assorted media, and memorabilia all provide a valuable glimpse into the creativity and hard work of the men and women who worked to make Budweiser a premium brand.

We used the original audio recording, photographs, and handwritten notes of Ray Krings’ presentation to the Advertising Club of St. Louis to bring the following speech to life on our YouTube channel.

The St. Louis Media History Foundation accepts donations of historic significance to preserve and share with researchers and the community. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact us.
