The Missouri History Museum in Forest Park has a terrific display called St. Louis Sound. It’s a history of popular music in the region, and the St. Louis Media History Foundation is proud to have played a part in assembling it. The museum’s ace curator Andrew Wanko contacted us a couple of years ago with the concept for the exhibit. We dug through our archives, which were still chaotic following the fire that displaced us from our original home, and we were able to come up with a large number of photos he used, as well as recordings of local disc jockeys through the years that are also part of the exhibit.

We welcomed the opportunity to work in conjunction with another respected institution to make people aware of the rich history of St. Louis. You’ll even see a couple of large photos of one of our Hall of Fame members, Art Dwyer of KDHX (and the Soulard Blues Band).

Being able to share our St. Louis media archives with the community is this sort of activity that the St. Louis Media History Foundation encourages, and your continued support helps make it possible.

The St. Louis Media History Foundation accepts donations of historic significance to preserve and share with researchers and the community. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact us.
